Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Catherine Runte disappeared May 22, 1979 after a fight with her husband in their house in the Spinnaker Cove Subdivision. Her husband Robert, 50, the owner of an electronic games business, told police of her disappearance three days after his own search proved fruitless.
At the time of her disappearance, Mrs. Runte had only some credit cards in her purse.
Police checked with area cab companies, and none reported picking her up on the night she disappeared.
Her family told police that the couple had argued previously during their six years of marriage and that Catherine left for periods of a couple of hours to cool off. On one occasion she was gone for several days but informed her family of her whereabouts. She had not contacted anyone since her disappearance, which is not like her.
She worked part-time as a freelance interior designer for Cathy Metzler Interiors, Barrington at the time.
