Details of Disappearance
Charles Monroe Sharpe was last seen by his father at their home in the 200 block of Galloway Street in Mount Pleasant.
Sharpe’s father allegedly saw him at home on August 21, 2002. His father left the home, then when he returned later that day, Sharpe was gone. No family members have been able to make contact with Sharpe since then. Sharpe’s sister filed a missing persons report with the Mount Pleasant Police Department on August 23, 2002.
According to the report, there were no signs of a struggle at the house. Police believe he got in a vehicle with someone he trusted.
The case was reopened in 2014. Police are following up on leads of Shorty being put in a well in the southern part of Mt. Pleasant, around Arrow Mines, but no solid evidence was found. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation joined the case and gave polygraph tests to suspects in the case. Tips gathered during the investigation led police to the well sites.
Both the family and the department have concluded that Sharpe is no longer living.
