  • Details of Disappearance
Sheridan took a five-day cruise to the Bahamas with his wife. When the cruise ship Celebration returned to Jacksonville, Florida, she reported him missing. The wife said her husband was an early riser and might have fallen overboard as early as 4am. At that time, the ship would have been about 13 miles off the northeast Florida Coast, heading for the St. Johns River and Jacksonville.
The ship's crew conducted a full ship search at about 11:30am to make sure the man wasn't still on board. Coast Guard search boats from Mayport, a helicopter and a jet from Miami looked for the man, covering more than 300 square miles of the St. Johns River and Jacksonville coast.
