Details of Disappearance
Shirley Banning was last seen in in the Broken Arrow area in Oklahoma on April 30, 1975. After dropping off her three kids to school, Shirley went to get her hair done at an east Tulsa strip mall at the intersection of 31st and Mingo. Police later found her car at a Tulsa hotel. She had told her family that she was going to Arkansas with her boyfriend. The couple had a rocky relationship, but were on good terms that weekend.
In April of 2013 investigators recieved information that Shirley's common-law husband, Alex Banning Sr. was responsible for her disappearance. An informant said Ace Banning killed Shirley Banning in Tulsa, because she was about to reveal incriminating information about one of Ace's relatives. Authorities did name Banning as a suspect after Snow went missing, but charges were never filed. Banning died of a heart attack in 1993 while he was in prison serving time for unrelated charges
With the help of his son, he alledgedly took her body to Arkansas and dumped Shirley's body in a well on rural property in Etna. The informant said he got the information directly from Ace's son, who is also now deceased, when he served time with him in prison. Nothing was discovered during the initial search of the area.
