Details of Disappearance
Shonda was last seen at approximately 6:00am on December 9, 2006 when she entered the Waffle House in Weldon, where her sister works. An employee told the family she had bruises on her face and legs and a bump on her temple. A regular customer reportedly gave her a ride to West Side Trailer Court on West 10th Street.
Stansbury was reportedly seen December 14, 2006 in Halifax County by an unidentified woman who called 911 and reported she saw Stansbury running from two men along U.S. 158. The woman was screaming for help, the caller told 911, and she wasn't wearing any clothes. There were no witnesses to corroborate the story, but the sighting led to a massive search of the area, which turned up nothing.
Shonda is the mother of four children. Roanoke Rapids police are treating Stansbury's case as a homicide, even though her body has never been found and no one has been charged with her death.
