Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
On the 3rd of September, 1997, Patrick Thauberger was last seen at the bus depot in Regina, SK. Thauberger was enroute by bus from Winnipeg to Edmonton, when he stopped in Regina to visit relatives. Thauberger had passed through Regina in late August, where he visited family before making his way to Indiana where he intended to auction off a pair of cars he’d driven down — one having been towed behind the other. Thauberger completed the sale and spent some time with friends in the U.S. before hopping on a bus for Winnipeg and, from there, back to Regina.
Thauberger again spent time with family, and his brother reportedly dropped him off at the downtown bus depot at about 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 3, about half an hour before his bus was to leave. That was the last time anyone reported having seen Thauberger. Investigation revealed he did not return to Edmonton.
When Thauberger missed an appointment, a concerned friend called his family, who had assumed he was back in Edmonton. Police came to suspect foul play, reporting Thauberger failed to pick up his cheque from the vehicle sales, and that there was no activity in his bank accounts after his disappearance. Searches and investigation have failed to locate Thauberger.
Dr. Patrick Cyril Thauberger, a 53-year-old clinical psychologist with a doctorate in pharmacology, was on leave from his job when he disappeared.
Patrick Thauberger’s brother was arrested in 2016 and was subsequently charged with drug production and possession of a drug for the purpose of trafficking. Police found what was described as a large, outdoor marijuana grow-op in the RMs of Indian Head and South Qu’Appelle while executing a search warrant which was obtained as part of the investigation” into the Thauberger case. It is unknown if the cases are connected.
