Details of Disappearance
Wilburn and his wife, Barbara Thompson, were boating in Suisan Bay in Solano County, California on March 21, 2001. Their craft caught on fire and capsized near Ryer Island during the day. Wilburn and Barbara jumped into the water to escape the flames, as did a teenage boy from Oklahoma who was accompanying them. Authorities presume that the couple drowned shortly after entering the water.
Barbara's remains were located in 2002. Some agencies may classify Thompson as lost/missing person. He resided in Turlock, California in 2001.
