Annette Vail was reported missing by her mother after she was out of contact for several weeks. The husband of Vail reported she left the country. However, this information has never been confirmed and she has never been located.
Felix Vail was the last known person to be see three women alive — his wife, Mary Horton Vail, who drowned Oct. 28, 1962, his girlfriend, Sharon Hensley, who disappeared in 1973, and his wife, Annette Craver Vail, who disappeared in October 1984. Initially arrested in his wife's drowning, he has never been prosecuted in any of the cases. The two women that disappeared were last known to be alive in Sulphur. He reportedly told a neighbor in fall 1984 that Annette had left Tulsa, Okla., to visit friends in Denver. But when Tulsa police questioned him, he told them that he had put his wife on a bus in St. Louis, heading for Mexico. After Annette's disappearance, he wrote that his wife wanted to disappear, "drop everybody and start over."
