Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Everilda, the mother of three, was last seen on July 13, 2006. She disappeared during a Las Vegas vacation with her husband. John Matthias Watson, a retired Ontario High School math teacher, is charged in Las Vegas with murder, robbery and kidnapping in connection with the July disappearance of Everilda Watson.
Prosecutors say they have evidence that shows Watson shot the woman, dismembered her body with an electric saw and a box cutter and then disposed of her remains. Watson was caught on surveillance video shopping at a Lowe's Wal-Mart picking up an electric saw, a utility knife, large plastic bags, bleach and odor neutralizer, tools police believe he used to dismember his wife and clean up the mess.
Watson has denied killing his wife, but told his children that the woman killed herself and that he disposed of her body because he feared police would accuse him of harming her. Her DNA was identified in the barrel of a firearm.
