Details of Disappearance
Brandi Wells was last seen by her mother August 2, 2006 as she prepared to go out with friends at a club in Longview. She visited friends and had been expected to return to her mother's house in Tyler to spend the night. Brandi was living with a friend in Brownsboro while waiting for school to begin, but she was going to stay the night with her mom in Tyler that Wednesday so she could run errands the next day. When Brandi did not immediately return, her mom thought she had just stayed with her friends. However, after attempts to reach her on her cell phone failed, and receiving a call from Brandi's roommate asking where Brandi was, her mom called the Longview Police and reported her missing on August 6, 2006.
On Aug. 8, the Longview Police Department received a call about Brandi's vehicle being abandoned on the westbound side of I-20 near Farm-to-Market 2087. Dogs were called out and the area was searched. Brandi's purse was found inside the car, but her cell phone was missing. The seat may have been moved to accomodate a larger person, though that has not been substantiated. Investigators traced the phone back to a person living in a neighborhood between Graham Central Station and the spot where Brandi's car was found.
There have been numerous searches for Brandi, including the use of cadaver dogs, but there are still no leads in her disappearance. As the time of Brandi's disappearance lengthens, the possibility of foul play becomes greater; however, the Longview PD is not ruling out other possibilities.
From Crime Library: "According to employees of the nightclub, Brandi had to call for directions several times on her way there. By the time she finally arrived, her car was running on empty, so she asked some of the patrons for help. Whether or not any one obliged is unknown. Surveillance footage from the establishment shows Brandi leaving shortly after midnight."
