  • Details of Disappearance
Williams was living with her boyfriend in Sandy Springs, Georgia in 1988. Nancy Williams was born and raised in Powhatan Point and was living in Georgia with a man her family did not know very well when they lost contact with her.

Williams's family has not heard from her since March 1988. The last contact with her family was in early 1988 by phone. Relatives also received a collect call from the man Nancy was living with in February 1988. He told them Nancy had left him and was headed for the Ohio Valley. Her family says it is uncharacteristic of her to be out of touch with them for so long.

Nancy Williams was never seen or heard from again. No activity has been associated with her Social Security number since 1988. She had a young daughter who was being raised by other family members when her mother disappeared.

She was a known drug user and worked as a sex worker. Nancy would “hang out” in Bellaire and Wheeling, and kept a room at the Rogers Hotel in Wheeling. The boyfriend was identified as Robert Mayhew, also known as Bob or Tom Katz and Bob or Tim Wilson. He would accompany Nancy on frequent trips back and forth from Georgia to the Ohio Valley. Police are not sure about the identity or the whereabouts of “Robert Mayhew.”

Police believe Nancy was murdered, though they have no physical evidence of her remains. They also believe that her death occurred in the Ohio Valley and that someone still living in the local area today has information about her disappearance.
