Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Katherine May Wilson was last seen walking along Harvey Kirkland Road, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, on October 20,1970. She was carrying groceries home, possibly in paper bags. Katherine called home just before 5 p.m. to ask whether she could buy a can of pop or a bag of chips with the leftover change. Her mother agreed, and Katherine said she was going to walk home. Katherine's two sisters walked out to meet her halfway, but the girl never showed up. Extensive searches have failed to locate her.
Barry Manion was arrested on the 06th of Jan 2009 and pled guilty to non-capital murder on the 11th of March 2009 and sentenced to life for this incident. He's a relative of the victim's late father. At the time of the crime, he was 22 years of age. Manion told investigators he offered the girl a ride home, but instead took her to a wooded area because he wanted to have sex with her. Manion said Katherine refused and ran away, but he caught up with the girl. He told police he started choking her to make her stop screaming, killing her. He said he left the body in the woods.
Katherine's body remains outstanding.
