  • Details of Disappearance
Robert Lee Wilson was last heard from at approximately 5:30AM on November 23, 2007 and was last seen on November 22, 2007 at approximately 10AM. He does have a grey/black beard.
Wilson called 9-1-1 at approximately 7 a.m., implying to responders that he was going to commit suicide by jumping off The Veterans of Salem County Memorial Bridge into the Salem River. His wallet and cell phone were found by police on the bridge.
There is a possibility that Wilson may not have jumped at all, and also entertained the idea that if he did jump, perhaps he was a good swimmer and came ashore somewhere.
No trace of a body was found during an intensive search of the Mannington Meadows and Salem River.
The bridge, which carries traffic on Rte. 49 between Pennsville Township and Salem City, is not a far fall but strong currents and 50-degree waters would make it much more dangerous.
