  • Details of Disappearance

Brandi and her half-sister Tiffany were last seen on March 30, 1977. Their mother, Beverly Wise, was found murdered in the home. The girls' eight-month old sister was left behind unharmed. Claude Wise, an Air Force sergeant stationed at Norton AFB in nearby San Bernadino, had returned home from work to find his wife dead, the victim of a single stab wound to the chest, and the two daughters missing.

Police, believing the murder/kidnapping involved a custody dispute, issued an APB for Roy Summers, Beverly's former husband and father of Brandi. Neighbors reported to police that a man meeting Summers' general description was seen putting the girls into a gold Camaro on the day of the murder. Beverly Wise married Roy Summers on 10 Apr 1971. She divorced Roy Summers in Oct of 1971. She married Claude Wise on 17 Jun 1973.

Juanita Iwakiri, nicknamed "Tiny", was arrested and convicted for complicity in the kidnapping of Brandi and Tiffany in 1980. She is the sister of Molly Casner, who was reported to be Roy Summers' girlfriend at the time of the kidnappings.

Iwakiri had contacted a lawyer, attempting to find out information on adopting the girls. At the time, Summers and Casner had left the area, leaving the girls in Iwakiri's care. She feared for the safety of the girls, and was seeking to adopt the girls before the two returned. Iwakiri was initially sentenced to five years in prison, but was granted probation after five months and the charges were later reduced to a misdemeanor.

Roy Summers was charged with Beverly Wise's murder, but was not convicted, due to issues with police conduct. After Roy Summers was not convicted of the murder of Beverly Wise, due to reports of investigative misconduct, he and other accused sued the City of San Bernardino for $18,000,000 for malacious prosecution and settled the lawsuit for $400,000. Roy Summers was married 7 times and was arrested on numerous occasions for assualting his wives, and others. He died in 2009.

Once charges were filed against the six primary suspects the sightings of the girls ceased.

Brandi and Tiffany have never been located.

There were unconfirmed sightings of the girls in the Boise, Idaho area around 1979. They were also traced to Nevada, Utah and Oregon. Their mother was found murdered in the home.
