Details of Disappearance
Wright, a Shelby County,Tennessee Code Enforcment Officer & father of five, was last seen at his place of employment at the Shelby County Office of Constuction Code Enforcement in the vicinity of the 2500 block of Lamar Avenue in Memphis, TN.
At the end of his tour of duty, Mickey did not return to his office to turn in his company truck or his log for the day.
On April 19, 2001, his work identification and badge were located in a creek in Olive Branch, Mississippi by a jogger.
Then, on April 27, 2001, Mickey's company vehicle was found completely burnt in a rural field in Marshall County, Mississippi.
Mickey's whereabouts remain unknown.
Dale Mardis, a commercial property owner in northern Mississippi, owned the lot where Wright was last seen and the two had run-ins in the past.
On July 15, 2004 Dale Mardis was charged with First Degree Murder in connection with the disappearence of Wright.
He was accused of killing Wright because of his race and his employment by a governmental entity.
Mardis pled not guilty.
In 2010 Mr Mardis pled guilty to second degree murder after admitting to killing Mr Wright Sr. The body was burned and whatever was left after the burning was dismembered and placed in derelict vehicles which were later crushed.
Dale Mardis, who was in court on federal hate crime charges for killing Memphis Code Enforcement employee Mickey Wright, confessed to also killing Henry Ackerman, a Baltimore doctor, in 1998.
